sometimes you just want to stop and say......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So I got rid of my weebly page. not that it is a bad host, just wasn't doing much so why put in the work! So I'm back to my comfy home on facebook. Maybe some day I'll sell items on etsy :)

I'm getting ready to move so things have been crazy here and managing a 2 1/2 year old isn't any less crazy! But it is well worth it and my lil monkey puts a smile on my face even when he's sticking slices of cheese to my window and yelling look momma it sticks it sticks! :)

I'm really enjoying crochet. I think I might just do crochet items and nix the rest. I'll decide once the dust settles. Here's a few of the hats I have created, they're so much fun!

Helpful crochet tip-instead of spending money on stitch markers, use a hoop earring. I have a pair that have the flip up back so its perfect for sticking in the stitches and easy to remove!

Share the wealth!

I have got some good deals on items off ebay, Hair Bow Center, and Oriental Trading Company. They each have great deals. I received puffed appliques off ebay for $1.04 with free shipping from Oh my Styles
-They are however, located in China, but I have had excellent service with them. Items shipped quickly and should be here tomorrow they were shipped on March 17th and should arrive tomorrow!

Another great ebay find was The_Bownut they have a really good price on tulle and they shipped quickly.

The Hair Bow Center is a really great place for any bow related accessories, I have ordered repeatedly from them, they are really easy to work with and their customer service is excellent.

Oriental Trading Company, they have a lot of bulk items for crafts for kids and adults alike. I found this deal and I am ordering it! It is a Summer Embellishments Box has a lot of cute summer themed items in it. You couldn't find a deal like this in a craft store.

Another great place for crochet patterns is Crochet Spot, for just $10 a month you can download unlimited Crochet patterns and they have some really cute ones! You can sell the items you make, you just have to give credit to CrochetSpot.com. Which is the way it should be :)

Well hope you visit these places, i'm not getting anything from plugging these (would be nice tho, huh!) Just wanted to share some good places for my fellow crafters.

Make sure and check out Crafts by Moosey Store for new items!!

Dandelions, the unsung, beautiful weeds.

Incase you can't tell I am ready for warm weather, and I really do think dandelions are beautiful, they're free, you can make wine out of them, and a cute hat ;)

original thought

This isn't really craft related, but I really don't understand the stigma with crochet and boring and old. I have been sharing some creations and actually had someone tell me to get a life. I have a life and a pretty good one at that. I'm not sure if it is jealousy or just ignorance, but it's rude nonetheless.

Crochet and crafting in general is therapeutic it is something I have complete control over. I have a 2 year old, life is out of control at times. :) So you can bash or say I'm an old lady crocheting but it is fun and I am becoming addicted to it. It's fun seeing my little creations strewn around the living room and hearing my son go Ooo pretty mama. :)

So to all my fellow yarn lovers out there keep up the good work!

Birdnest Baskets

I haven't made these in years. So I figured I'd make some for Easter! Check it out!

I'm selling them for $10.00 plus shipping. It's a cute change from regular straw baskets. They are made with sugar and water, I sprayed them with clear acrylic sealer to add some extra stability. The best yarn to use is the super saver yarn you can buy at your local walmart.

Keeping with the summer theme

I made a crochet headband a couple weeks ago and while wandering through the craft aisles I saw these tiny little flip flops, I saw people make flip flops with flowers and I'm sure there's people who crochet around them, but I have never tried, so I bought a small pair and gave it a whirl. So this is what I created..
They turned out really well, although it isn't as easy as I thought to crochet around the straps of the flip flops. If you're a DIY person, it helps if you make the slipknot around the band of the flip flops. If you're not a DIY kind of person I am selling these for $5.00 plus shipping. I can also do custom orders (within reason), to order email me at crafts.by.moosey@gmail.com.

Need a little sunshine?

I was sitting here thinking how dreary this weather has been. So I crocheted a cute sunflower hair clip on a lined alligator clip with feathers. Adds some color to this gray weather we've been having.

I'm also working on some new hats and other hair clips. I'll post them when I have them finished. Also, I want to give some props to Hobby Lobby, they have so many options to make some cute items and they have a lot of coupons online that you can print and use at the store!

New Beginnings

So I grew up with a mom who crocheted, I always thought it was too hard, I'd make a chain then try to add to it and it would end up being a jumbled mess. Mostly because I was a teenager and had absolutely no patience. After I had my son I learned a lot about patience. So my mom came to visit and I bought one of those I taught myself crochet books they have at Walmart, and a couple months later viola! I can crochet. :) So for those of you who say it's too hard just give it a try, and try again and again and again, you'll get it right eventually.

This blog is mostly for items I am selling that I have crocheted. I also make handmade jewelry (when I have time..lol) I am going to link pictures from my facebook page into this blog, if you see something you like just email me at crafts.by.moosey@gmail.com and place your order.

I do custom orders so if you see something and don't like the color, ribbon, etc just let me know I can accommodate changes (within reason of course). I only accept Pay Pal and Money Orders. I do First Class shipping USPS unless you request Priority Mail then I would give you the shipping cost. So check my items out I will add more as I create them!

Also, this blog is going to be about my adventures in crochet, I'm still a beginner there's a lot to learn yet, but I can hold my own.
